| TROPHY TOUR COMING TO COCA-COLA PARK |
| Fans Will Have Special Photo Opportunity With Trophy During IronPigs-Yankees Game on April 10 |
|
|
| The World Series Trophy Tour, presented by Teva Pharmaceuticals and Comcast SportsNet, will make a special appearance at Coca-Cola Park for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs game against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees on Friday, April 10, 2009. The tour offers fans the opportunity to have their photo taken with The Commissioner’s Trophy that recognizes the Philadelphia Phillies as 2008 World Series champions. |
| “The Commissioner’s Trophy is one of the most recognizable symbols in all of sports, so we are very thankful that the Phillies have decided to include Coca-ColaPark on their World Series Trophy Tour,” exclaimed IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes. "We have a large portion of Phillies loyalist, so we are excited to offer them a first-hand look at the trophy. And, since we're playing Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, it's our privilege to provide Yankees fans a reminder of what a World Series Trophy looks like... it's been awhile for them!" |
| Coca-Cola Park gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the 7:05 p.m. contest against the Yankees. Due to the anticipated demand of trophy pictures – coupled with the fact April 10 marks the second game of the season -- fans are encouraged to arrive early. Photos will be taken from the gates opening through the middle of the seventh inning. |
| The World Series trophy was created by Major League Baseball in 1967 and each year, one full-sized trophy is created and awarded to the World Series champion. The trophy is fashioned by Tiffany & Co., made of sterling silver and weighs roughly 30 pounds. It features 30 flags, one representing each Major League team. |
| The World Series trophy stop at Coca-Cola Park coincides with a spectacular Friday Night Fireworks show that will take place immediately following the IronPigs-Yankees game. Fireworks will remain a fixture of IronPigs baseball at Coca-Cola Park in 2009 with 18 extravagant shows planned. |
| In addition to single-game tickets, season tickets, mini-plans and group tickets for the 2009 season presented by Capital BlueCross are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (610) 841-PIGS or by visiting the Coca-Cola Park ticket office.
